Director: Sajid Khan.
Producer: Vashu Bhagnani.
Written by: Sajid Khan.
Starring: Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Tamannaah Bhatia, Esha Gupta, Bipasha Basu, Ram Kapoor.
Production: Fox Star Studios.
Distributor: Pooja Entertainment India Ltd.
Description: Based in London, the film is about the confusion caused due to three identical people Ashok (Saif Ali), Kumar (Riteish Deshmukh) and Mamaji (Ram Kapoor).
Humshakals has been criticized a lot since its first trailer was released. So, considering this is - Sajid Khan's film has been a disappointment or is it any better?
This film actually worth all the criticism, as Saif Ali Khan said " I wouldn't have done Humshakals ten years ago." Err actually, Saif you should have never done it.
The film begins with paying credits to Kishore Kumar, Jim Carrey and Peter Sellers. Then the torture begins.
The story has very little to offer and other than stupid slapstick and illogical situations which has been put forward as jokes. Humshakals looks exactly like Sajid's earlier film Housefull 2 - you know the foreign location and stupid -witted comedy.
The three main male leads plays the most irritating characters who crack the worst jokes until the land in some trouble. And as they try to solve the problem, they land in some illogical song sequences including all the male and female leads in their night suits.
Considering the performances, Riteish and Ram Kapoor are the duo who might be of some interest to watch. They must seriously choose their films wisely.
Against all the odds, Riteish seems to pull off the jokes perfectly. Ram does some descent job as playing the mama's role and he has his own moments.
To be frank, Saif is the worst of all - his role was very unconvincing as the man behaving as a dog, as the waitress. Besides his acting was just sleep-walking.
The female leads - Esha Gupta, Bipasha Basu and Tamannah Bhatia had a very little to do in the film along with appearing in mini-dresses. So their acting shouldn't be spoken about.
Sajid should be praised for one thing - honestly - for convincing Saif and Riteish for signing his film. Throught the lame jokes that Saif cracks in the beginning, Riteish says "Saif's jokes will send you to coma.". I have a question, haven't Saif and Riteish seen Sajid Khan's Himmatwala?
With no story or comedy to offer, even Riteish and Ram were unable to save the Sajid Khan's Humshakals. Skip this movie if you dont want a bad headache and any other side effects of being tortured.
But I do like the confidence of Sajid Khan to call Humshakals a film.
